Checkout Cleaning Fees at Hawaii Condos

There's 35 Hawaii condos that now charge mandatory "Checkout Cleaning Fees" that are added to your bill upon checkout. This is a new twist on overcharging Hawaii's visitors that began in about 2013 and has grown since.
Checkout cleaning fees are similar to Resort Fees in that they are charges for something (cleaning) that has always been considered as being a fundamental inclusion for any hotel stay anywhere in the world. But the creative bean counters at Hawaii hotels have now found a new way of increasing the bottom line, while continuing to alienate potential guests. The accountants can also be proud of the fact that they are avoiding paying the State's Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) on the cleaning fees, a tax avoidance behavior that the State of Hawaii is beginning to look at.

| Beach Villas at Ko Olina by Ola Properties Ko Olina, Oahu Parking is complimentary for first vehicle. Additional parking for a fee. A designated, assigned parking stall comes with each unit. Parking stalls can fit economy, compact, and some mid-sized cars. For larger vehicles, larger parking stalls are available through Building Management at $30.00 plus tax daily, payable in Hawaii. Six (6) night minimum stay required, unless otherwise stated. One-time cleaning fee included in room rate. Daily maid service available for $100.00 plus tax daily for a 1 or 2 bedroom and $125.00 plus tax daily for a 3 bedroom. Must book for entire stay. A one-time mid-stay cleaning service can be made available for $140.00 plus tax for a 1 or 2 bedroom and $170.00 plus tax for a 3 bedroom.
