CONSTRUCTION ALERT: The owners of the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort announced plans for the demolition of the property to make way for the building of an opulent condominium hotel under the Baccarat flag. The 345 room 7 story resort will be replaced with a lower-density cluster of 13 buildings ranging from 2 to 4 stories high, with a total of 193 units ranging in size from one-bedroom to four-bedrooms. The plan is to close the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort in early September, 2007. The demolition would follow, with construction of the new Baccarat property to start by the end of the year.
