Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort Brochure

Crowning an ancient lava flow cascading into the serene waters along Hawaii's leeward coast, Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa is a refuge unlike any other. The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa rests on 22 spectacular oceanfront acres. Keauhou means "new beginning" and Hawaii's newest resort offers travelers a family and honeymoon friendly environment.

From rejuvenating spa treatments in our open-air facilities to our authentic luau, this former playground of Hawaiian royalty, now beckons all those in search of genuinely unique Hawaiian experiences.

Guest Rooms

Comfortable elegance awaits you in each of our 521 rooms and suites. With all-new furnishings and warm, contemporary fabrics, the decor is decidedly modern, while incorporating colors and textures inspired by the stunning natural landscape outside your window. But the centerpiece of every guest room is certainly the new Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed -- featuring a custom plush top mattress, a cloud-like duvet and five deluxe pillows.

Offering an average of 420 square feet in every standard room, as well as a spacious lanai, you'll find plenty of space to unwind and take in the sweeping views. In-room amenities include such comforts as bathrobes in our Kona Wing guest rooms and oval shower rods in all guest rooms. For those desiring even more space, our opulent Presidential and Deluxe Executive suites provide a host of luxurious amenities and conveniences.

Manta Ray Super Slide & Pool

While the many spectacular attractions and natural wonders of the Big Island will certainly tempt you, you may find our multi-level fantasy pool, the Manta Ray Super Slide & Pool, to be most alluring of all. Situated at the heart of the resort, amid vibrant gardens and shimmering waterfalls, this enormous fresh-water pool includes its own small manmade beach, the island's largest waterslide, bubbling whirlpool spas, and a delightful children's play area.

A river system connects the upper and lower pools, leads to a waterfall and transitions a 200-foot-long lava tube waterslide. With an elevation change of 24 feet from starting deck to the water and a figure-eight pattern leading to the pool, the thrilling waterslide is the center of pool fun and activity. A 900-square-foot sandy-bottomed children's pool includes a large sandy beach area for play, sunning and lounging

Ho'ola Spa
Imagine… the thatched roof of the tea hut rustles gently in the trade winds… the scent of freshly prepared tropical oils fill your senses… and you close your eyes for the most thoroughly relaxing massage you have ever experienced. The multi-tiered, open-air Ho'ola Spa* is a wondrous way to spend your day. Among other sensations, you'll find a full range of international massage therapies and traditional Hawai'ian treatments. (*A selection of Spa Services is currently available. Ho'ola Spa's full-service facility is scheduled for completion and will be open by Spring 2005.)
Guests of Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa will find a complete Fitness Center featuring an aerobic/dance program, a full range of free weights, and a series of modern exercise training equipment. The inspiring views from the oceanfront windows of the Fitness Center means you can enjoy your workout like never before.

**The Manta Ray Experience**

Picture a large, shadow-like creature gliding like an acrobat through crystal clear ocean waters. Strangely shaped, yet hauntingly beautiful and graceful, one cannot help but crave to learn more. What is it you have seen? You have seen a manta ray, the largest of the ray species, reaching wing spans of more than twenty feet and weighing as much as 3,000 pounds. Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa has teamed together with local manta ray expert, James L. Wing, to re-create an environment attractive to the world-famous Keauhou Manta Rays and welcome them back to a familiar feeding ground.

Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa has long been one of the preferred feeding areas for these mysterious and amazingly beautiful creatures. Guests will be able to observe the mantas nightly from the lanai (balcony) of their rooms or from special viewing areas within the resort's grounds. Each night at sunset, Mr. Wing and his interns will conduct a complimentary half-hour lesson about current manta studies on behavior and habitat.

For those who want a more "up close and personal" encounter with these enchanting creatures, the Manta Experience takes guests into the water for a nighttime snorkel or SCUBA dive excursion to the site, simultaneous to the lesson taking place in the resort. Additionally, a special high definition underwater camera is being installed so guests can observe the manta rays and the Manta Experience at any time day or night on a dedicated in-room channel or via the hotel's website.

Kona Country Club Golf Courses
For nearly 40 years, the Kona Country Club has been welcoming golfers to Kona's south coast. Offering two 18-hole courses, the Kona Country Club, within steps of Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa, will challenge the expert and prove manageable for the novice. Golf clinics along with a driving range, chipping and putting practice greens are available. Both courses offer quality turf conditions yet each provide a dramatically different golfing experience.

Meetings and Weddings
The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa will be Kona's premier and largest conference facility, with over 36,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space. The Keauhou Convention Center will feature the 10,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom with ample pre-function space for up to 1,200 guests, and the 3,000-square-foot Kamehameha Ballroom. Three additional Bayview meeting rooms, offer extensive flexibility and inspiring views. Whether you're planning a board meeting, or theme party complete with fire dancers and live music, the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa's versatile layout can accommodate your needs.

Dining and Entertainment
The professional chefs at Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa delight in the many fresh, Big Island-grown ingredients that add special flair and culinary excitement to every meal they prepare. From beautiful greens to fresh fruits, from island goat cheeses to hearts of palm, your palate will love exploring all the Big Island has to offer at the restaurants at Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa.

Guests will find freshly prepared light meals and salads, along with a host of frosty tropical drinks at the pool-side Manta Ray Bar & Grill.

Kai is the place for start-your-day right breakfasts with stunning bay views. In the evening, the restaurant is transformed for its elegant offerings of dynamic Hawaiian Regional fare prepared with an island flair.

And for a unique Hawaiian cultural and dining experience, you will want to reserve your place at the table for Origins at the Luau Grounds at Keauhou - a culinary and cultural experience that is truly something to write home about. (Held each Monday and Thursday evening).

Crystal Blue is the place to gather for sunset - manta ray - and people - watching from the late afternoons to the late evenings. Elegant wines, micro-brewed beers, colorful tropical cocktails and more at Crystal Blue. (Opening 1st Quarter, 2005)

Our in-room dining experience means you can sleep in for the ultimate treat, breakfast in bed. Or for a quick mid-afternoon snack or dinner, our complete room service menu will satisfy whatever you are hungry for.

Our Agent Brad Says ...   The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa reopened in April 2005, after undergoing a two-year, $70 million renovation. This is the nicest property on the Keauhou coast, featuring luxurious rooms, restaurants, the longest water slide in Hawaii, and a 1/3 acre indoor/outdoor pool.
