Tropical Paradise Daytime Garden Admission ONLY

This lush 30-acre botanical and cultural garden provides an idyllic escape to enjoy Mother Nature’s creations. The garden is centrally located on the east side of Kauai, known as “The Coconut Coast,” within the Wailua Marina State Park. Only minutes from the main highway, but far removed from traffic noise, this beautiful location is perfect for an afternoon picnic or garden stroll, and is home to Kauai’s most popular luau.
Take your time and wander over a mile of meandering pathways surrounded by tropical splendor. You’ll explore the quiet, serene atmosphere of this paradise where peacocks and many other birds thrive in the lush surroundings.
View over twenty types of fruit in the Tropical Orchard including breadfruit, star fruit, jackfruit, macadamia nuts and sour sop. Wander the Bamboo and Fruit forests or enjoy the colorful attraction of the Flower Wheel and Flowering Tropical’s area. Set amidst this natural backdrop are replicas of Polynesian and Filipino huts. The Japanese-themed garden island is a popular location for those who choose to get married in the gardens.

Tropical Paradise Garden Luau

Includes: Admissions, Cocktails, Dinner & Pageant
Aloha! Over 50 years ago, Grandpa started our family business in this sacred Wailua River Valley. We created our tropical paradise to celebrate the Hawaiian spirit of aloha that he loved and lived by. Today, four generations of my family continue to honor that tradition with the most famous of Hawaiian celebrations, the luau . We welcome you to share the traditions of our island home and become part of our ‘ohana .

5:00pm Welcome Join us in paradise near the sacred Wailua River, a place once reserved for Hawaiian royalty. Receive your shell lei and either take a narrated tram tour or a leisurely stroll around the lush 30-acre gardens (last tram tour departs at 5:30pm)
6:00pm Imu Ceremony Meet some of our family members and learn of the Hawaiian cooking method called Kalua - where Kalua pig is wrapped in ti leaves and cooked to perfection in our earthen imu oven.
6:15pm Cocktails & Music Have a mai tai, beer, or glass of wine at the open bar while the Smith family entertains with Hawaiian songs. (Soft drinks and juice are also available.)
6:30pm Luau Feast The music continues while you enjoy traditional flavors and island favorites like kalua pork, beef teriyaki, chicken adobo, and sweet’n’sour mahimahi. Sample our ono local specialties like lomi salmon, fresh poi, Hawaiian sweet potato, mac salad, namasu salad and scrumptious tropical deserts!
8:00pm Rhythm of Aloha Show Move to the rhythm with colorful, authentic performances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Philippines, New Zealand, China and Japan in our spacious open-air, torch-lit “Pele Amphitheater” (complete with erupting volcano!).

Smith's Fern Grotto Cruise

Sharing Songs and Legends of the Wailua River Valley is a Family Tradition In 1946, Walter Smith, Sr. and his wife, Emily, started our family business with a small rowboat and a borrowed outboard motor. Four generations later, we continue Grandpa’s tradition of sharing our love of Kauai and its rich cultural heritage.
During the two mile river journey, you’ll hear songs and stories of ancient Hawaii — like the King’s Highway, sacred Mount Kapu, and the First Hau Tree. In addition, guests enjoy learning the hula during a lesson provided by a young hula dancer. Everyone gets into the act during the river cruise!

The Wailua River is known as “the only navigable river” in all Hawaii. The river’s fresh water pours down from Mt. Wai‘ale‘ale, one of the wettest spots on the planet. Lands along the river were the sacred capital of ancient Kauai and the birthplace of the island’s ali‘i, or royalty.
At the Fern Grotto landing, you’ll enjoy a short nature walk through the rainforest to the lush Fern Grotto.
The Fern Grotto is a geological wonder of Kauai. Ferns grow upside down from the roof of the grotto, which was formed millions of years ago. Native Hawaiian plants and colorful exotic tropical plants provide a rain-forest atmosphere.

NOTE: Located at the Wailua Marina State Park: 5971 Kuhio Highway. Complimentary shuttle available from Wailua area hotels & condos. The transportation option is made available during the reservation process.
