On Dec 3, 2014 at 2:28P Chris Humphrey said We had the unfortunate opportunity to stay at this resort during the first part of November of this year. We were not told that the desk closed at 11:00 SO when we arrived at midnight we had to use a phone provided outside of the office and we had to call for the night security. We first had to leave a message. When he did not call back we used our cell phone to call the number and he did call back promptly. He gave us the key to our room and instructed on how to get there. He never mentioned that there were elevators provided so after flying and being up for 22 hours we had to carry four pieces of luggage up three flights of stairs. We then had to go and try to search out a place to park our car and then walk all the way back to our building. Upon entering the condo, we had to search for the air conditioning-finally found the window unit which was covered by the drapes. We booked a one bedroom oceanfront condo . It was that, with a beautiful view from the balcony. The condo was old and in desperate need of reinventions. It somewhat resembled the pictures on line but they failed to advise us that there was major work being done next door to our building and the bulldozer started up each morning at an early hour. The grounds are beautiful. I have been to Maui many times and have stayed at Aston Properties all of the times. We decided to try another Aston property this time and it was certainly a mistake. The front office staff apparently do not work for Aston and their only response to everything is that you have to call Aston. There are many beautiful places to stay on Maui but I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I know that many of the owners rent their condos directly and you might have a better chance with them. I would definitely ask for pictures of the room that you will be getting; something that we should have done. It was not a comfortable condo at all. I have spoken with a lovely woman at the Aston Papakea since our return. She is very easy to work with and has already refunded a portion of some of the fees that are charged by them daily. She is also working with Travel Hawaii to reimburse us for one night stay. In retrospect we should have gone to the front desk on our first morning after checking in the night before and requested assistance with another condo. We figured that we would not be able to do this since we had not booked directly with the facility. However, Suzanne at the Papakea said that we should have come down to the office and she would have worked with us as they want their customers to be happy. At least with her help it makes the experience somewhat better.
Our Agent Ricardo Says ... This oceanfront Hawaiian style low-rise resort with tropical landscaped grounds & pool is great for family vacations. It is a very convenient & comfortable accomodation.
Our Owner Roz Says ... This is a wonderful Hawaiian-style low-rise resort, with beautiful tropical landscaped gardens and pools, and a great oceanfront lawn for sunbathing and watching the whales go by. One of my favorites!
Our Agent Phyllis Says ... There are over 10 acreas of lushly landscaped grounds at this oceanfront property. The ocean water splashes against the rock wall that fronts the ocean. The two swimming pools are next to the ocean and it's lovely, but there is no swimming beach at this property. You can, however, walk further down along the shoreline and get to a swimming beach. Papakea is a great option for those who do not necessarily want to swim in the ocean but like to hear and see it!
